SCHOOL PROJECT
Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collections free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collections which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939. It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritten stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties.
Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledockrell NS, Marshalstown NS and Monart NS. It gives an interesting insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.
