COMMUNITY GAMES

Due to good interest in quiz, Handwritin­g and art local trials will be held in each event. Under-14 Quiz Trials will take place in Bree Hall on this Tuesday the 14th at 8.30 p.m. The under-8 to under-16 Art Trials and Handwritin­g Trials under-10 and under-12 will take place in Bree Hall from 10 a.m. to midday on Saturday next, February 18.

All participan­ts must be under an age on August 1, eg under-8s may not have reached their eighth birthday before that date. All participan­ts must be resident in the Parishes of Bree, Davidstown or Cloughbawn. Well done to the under-13 Chess Team of Odhran Kehoe, Bill Quigley, Katie Doyle, Nathan Doyle, Cathal Ennis, Conn Frazer and Riona Kehoe, who took part in the under-13 Community Games Co Chess Finals on Thursday evening last in Glynn. The team performed well but was not among the medal winners. The under-16 team of Odin Doyle, Cormac Kehoe, Michael Humphrey, Nicholas Howe and Tom Quigley had no opposition and therefore qualify for the inter county rounds. Best wishes to the four local Draughts teams competing in the Co Finals on this Saturday evening in Bree Hall.

WEXFORD ACADEMY

There is a ‘Lock and Key Night’ in Byrne’s of Bree on Saturday next, February 18, at 9.30 p.m. Admission is €5 with music by ‘Wrecking Ball’. An enjoyable way to spend Valentine’s weekend. All proceeds are in aid of Wexford Academy of Irish Dance.

GALBALLY TRACTOR RUN

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on Sunday, May 28.

GAA TRIPLE CROWN

The final event of the Ballyhogue GAA Club Triple Crown is the Bog Run which takes place on Sunday, February 19, at midday

BREE AC NEWS

Days 1 and two of the Leinster Indoor Championsh­ips took place in Athlone IT last weekend with success for Bree AC athletes. Aoife Cloke Rochford (under-19) who won three gold medals, 60m, 60mHurdles and 200m. Gracie Kehoe (under-12) won gold in the High Jump with a Leinster Record of 136cm beating the previous record by 7cm. She also won silver in the 60mHurdles and a bronze medal in the 60m. Abbie Doyle (under-12) won gold medals in both the 60m and the 60mHurdles. Seán Rowley (under-13) won gold in the 60mHurdles and silver in the 60m. Darra Casey (under-15) won gold in the 60m Hurdles and Conor Doyle (under-14) won silver in the 800m. Also in action were Olivia Howe fourth in the under-18 60m, Oran French fifth in under-17 60m, Oisin Rochford fifth in the (12) 60m Hurdles and Shane Doran fifth in the (under-13) 60m.

Oscar Redmond competed in the National B Cross Country at Waterford IT where he finished in 54th place out of 103 finishers and was the fourth Wexford athlete across the line. Well done to all involved. Next outing for the club will be the Leinster Indoor Relays and junior, senior and Masters Indoors in Abbottstow­n, Dublin on the 25th and February 26.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT

SN Seosamh Naofa, Bree are now accepting enrolments for September 2017. Enrolment packs can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 247725) for a pack to be posted out. Please return the completed enrolment forms by March 1.

BREE YOUTH CLUB

Envelopes for Bree Youth Club’s split-the-pot fundraiser are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw takes place on the first Saturday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next Active Retirement Social Afternoon will be held on this Wednesday afternoon, February 15. A committee meeting will be held at 1.30 p.m. followed by the social at 2 p.m. The membership fee for the year is €10 and this will be due at the meeting/ social on the 15th.

The County League Bowls Competitio­n is in full swing at the moment with bowling practice continuing every other Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thinking of joining, all are most welcome. For more informatio­n contact 086 0747823.

The next committee meeting is on February 21 at 7.15 p.m. in Bree Community Centre, followed by full guild meeting at 8 p.m., also in the centre. Anyone interested in joining our guild, please come along on February 21, we would love to meet you.
