FIRST RESPONDERS

Are you interested in saving lives? A meeting to set up a Community First Responders group will be held on Wednesday, February 15, at 7.30 p.m. in the Old School Centre. A first responder is a person who is trained in basic life support, including the use of a defibrillator, who attends an actual or potentially life-threatening emergency within a pre – defined geographical area such as a village. The scheme would be linked to the National Ambulance Service.

A representative from the Irish Heart Foundation involved in First Responder groups will be in attendence on the night to provide information and answer any questions. Without a good turn out on the night it will not be feasible to establish a first responder unit in Glenbrien.

STORYTELLING SESSION

Storytelling will take place in the Old School centre on Wednesday next, February 22, at 8 p.m. Unfortunately this will be the last storytelling session. The event has been running for the past 11 and half years, and over that time has brought great entertainment as a social event in the community for all those who attended from Glenbrien and much further a field, with great music craic and fun.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to all who attended the sessions, who donated the many raffle prizes, and to the constant few who baked and provided the buns bread and cakes on each of the nights to those who provided the venues and those who sang played music and told stories, It will be sadly missed by all.
