BACTERIAL Vaginosis is a condition that several women have asked me to talk about. This is a bacterial infection of the vagina. The main symptom is a discharge that will have a strong odour–often a fishy smell. The discharge can be greyish, white or yellow. The symptoms are often mistaken for thrush which is a yeast infection while Bacterial Vaginosis is a bacterial infection. Thrush is uncomfortable and can be extremely itchy with a cheesy discharge. So if you have been treating thrush with no results you may have BV. Symptoms can be mild and therefore go unnoticed.

BV is diagnosed by the doctor; they will do a visual pelvic exam, take a swab of the discharge and ask you about your symptoms. The medical treatment will involve antibiotics which will kill the bad bacteria that cause the infection.

However, this won’t do anything to improve the pH balance of the vagina which is one of the reasons that the bad bacteria can take hold in the first place. If the pH is off balance it will affect the levels of the good bacteria in the vagina allowing the bad bacteria to grow, multiply and cause the symptoms. If you have had to take antibiotics then take a good probiotic supplement like Optibac For women to replenish the good bacteria and help prevent re-infection.

Obtibac For women is a clinically trialled probiotic which can help reduce both the occurrence, and the symptoms of BV. Providing good bacteria to the vaginal area, it normalises the pH, preventing the overgrowth of the bad bacteria which causes the infection. This is helpful for both Bacterial Vaginosis and thrush. Take Optibac For women for several months for optimal benefit.

Optibac For women has over 30 years of scientific studies in clinical trials in women with Bacterial Vaginosis, thrush and cystitis with amazing results.

Multi- Gyn Acitgel is a topical gel which is used to treat infection and relieve the symptoms and discomfort of Bacterial Vaginosis. You can use this alongside Optibac For women so that you are targeting the problem from the inside and outside.

So if you think you have Bacterial Vaginosis it might be worth having a look at these supplements. I hope this information helps you deal with this condition.
