STRIKING WORKS BY LAR ON SHOW
LAR JOYCE IS BRINGING HIS ANIMAL PORTRAITS AND EXPANSIVE LANDSCAPES TO THE PRESENTATION CENTRE
AN EXHIBITION entitled ‘Divergent’ by the Enniscorthy artist Lar Joyce will be officially opened by Wexford gallery owner Denis Collins in the Presentaton Centre on Friday, February 24, at 7.30 pm.
Lar is a self-taught artist who has always had an interest in visual art and has been drawing and painting professionally for the past five years.
He is well known for his contemporary-style portraits of animals along with expansive landscapes and seascapes. Originals and limited prints of his art work have been sold in galleries including the Gas Lamp, the Sweet Shop and the Denis Collins Gallery.
Lar uses a juxtaposition of traditional style drawing and contemporary backgrounds to create a fresh outlook on familiar subjects in one-off pieces.
He has previously exhibited at the Presentation Centre as part of the Enniscorthy Showcase Exhibition which highlighted the range of talented artists resident in Enniscorthy. He has shown his work during Wexford Festival Opera for a number of years and at the Horse Show and ‘House’ in the RDS.
Limited editions of his pictures are available in a number of retail outlets around the south east. Portrait commissions are an important part of his work.
Lar’s creative process has recently extended to picture framing, which he also hopes to promote along with planned exhibitions this year in the Listowel Conference Centre, at Kilkenny Arts Festival and Wexford Festival Opera.
All are welcome to attend the opening of the Presentation Centre exhibition which will run until April 10.
