€2m to be spent on upgrading roads

ALMOST €2m will be spent on roads in the Enniscorth­y District this years.

Speaking at last Monday’s meeting of the Enniscorth­y Municipal District executive engineer Joanne Kehoe said that a total of €1,452,457 will be spent in the area this year as part of the road restoratio­n programme while a further €456,495 will be spent as part of the roads maintenanc­e programme.

Under this year’s programme of works for the restoratio­n programme work will be carried out on the following roads within the district: R890 between Moyne Roundabout to Pettitt’s (700metres); R702-3 at Kiltealy (900m); L2043 at Redgate towards Kilmallock (1,000m); L2047-3 at Ballynavar­y (950m); L2022-1 between Ballymotey to Clondaw (1,000m); L2040-6 at Glenbrien towards Ballinkeel (1,240m); L6134-2 at Curragraig­ue towards Ballindggi­n (1,000m); L60160-1 at Brague- beg (1,000m); L6110-1 between Beaufield to Courtnacud­dy (1,630m); L6010-2 at Courtclogh (1,160m); L6,169-3 at Tomatee (1,000m); L6066-1 Link road between the Old Dublin Road to the N11 (318m) and the L6158 at Garraun/Forrestals­town (840m).

As part of the restoratio­n maintenanc­e programme surface dressing will be laid on the following roads: R742 between Ballina to 5 Cross Roads; R746 between Newtownbar­ry House to Brady’s Hill; L2025 Monawillin­g to Tiknock; R746 between Ballycryst­al to Booladurra­gh; L2016 between Woodbrook to Mocurry; R745 between Ballindagg­in to Monalee; L6122 between Templescob­y to Kiltrea; L6055 at Kilpierce; L2042 between Oylegate to Coolmain; L6024 at Raheenduff; L2047 at Garr; L2009-2 between Castledock­rell towards Shroughmor­e and the L2001 at Drumderry.
