BOTTLE BANKS RELOCATION

Following an investigat­ion by the waste collection company responsibl­e for the collection of our recycling facilities around the county, it was determined that the current location of the Bottle Banks at Kildavin were deemed unsafe under their Health and Safety regulation­s. The Bottle Banks at Kildavin will be removed from their current location at Spellman Hall and will be relocated to a new site at the GAA grounds. It is anticipate­d that the relocation of these facilities will take place over the coming days. Carlow County Council apologise for any inconvenie­nce caused.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Gymnastics – The county final will be held on Saturday, March 25, in Carlow for boys and girls Under-nine, under-11 and under-13. Contestant­s must per- form the set Community Games routine. Interested participan­ts please contact Deirdre Byrne by Friday, March 10, at 087 1171881.

Skittles – County final will take place Saturday, April 29. Training will commence for under-12s and under-14s on Friday, March 24, after athletic training in Ardattin. For more informatio­n please contact Valerie Coulahan 087 6837724.

Fun Run – We will be holding our four mile fun run which is our only fundraiser of the year on Monday, May 1, great fun for all the family.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY

The village of Clonegal and the wider community was saddened to hear the death of Mary Byrne (née Whelan), St Brigid’s Terrace, Clonegal, who passed away on Thursday, March 2. Loving wife of Ned and loving mother of Eddie, Peter, Eileen, Mag, Paul, Seán, Davy and the late Liam and Patrick. Mary will be sadly missed by brother, sisters, aunt, sons-In-law, daughters-in-law, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, brotherIn-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday in St Brigid’s Church, Clonegal, followed by burial afterwards in the New Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

SONG AND STORY

The house of song and Story takes place every third Monday of the month in St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal at 8 p.m. The next session will be held on Monday, March 20. All are most welcome.
