Musician Elmore plays his way to build studio
Musician Elmore from Enniscorthy is busy preparing for the release of his first EP but continues to fundraise to help other local artists.
Oliver John Elmore has started a fundraiser to help build a much needed recording studio in his house at Bellefield Springs, Enniscorthy, to help local artists kick start their career.
‘I started the fundraiser to try bring half of the funds needed to build the studio. Local artists can record their first release free of charge as studio prices can leave a dent in the pocket,’ he said.
The website is called Fundrazr where people can donate money. Elmore hopes to raise €5,000 for his home studio.
‘I will be raising €2,500 through the fundraiser but I myself will be contributing €2,500 of my own money into the project,’ he said.
At the age of 13 Elmore began to play guitar and at the age of 16 he started to write his own songs.
‘I never had the confidence to show anybody my music until I was 18, this was also the age I played my first ever show. I then left Ireland for six months to go busking around Western Europe, a trip funded by what I had been earning from busking here at home,’ said Elmore.
From Europe, Elmore said he then moved to Manchester and continued to busk there.
‘I started to miss my family and friends and decided to return back to Wexford. Three months after my return I was contacted by Savee Entertainment Group in late 2015 and that is where it all began for me,’ he said.
Since signing up with Savee, Elmore has released a debut single this year called ‘I’m Still Here’, his first ever music video, which is available on iTunes and other digital outlets.
Elmore said he writes his songs about his life experiences and struggles.
‘My single is based around depression, anxiety and panic disorder, something I suffer with. I am currently working on my debut EP that will be released this year, it is something I am very excited about,’ said Elmore.
In the space of a year, Elmore has become very popular, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping there for this 24 year old man,
‘I went from having 2,000 views on my videos to having over a million in just one year. My popularity has increased greatly. In 2016 I played my first ever festival at Waves Festival and have played shows with Hudson Taylor.
‘My first gig of the year 2017 will be on June 3 at the Vantastival Festival, where The Riptide Movement will be headlining act,’ he said. To donate towards the studio visit, www.fundrazr.com.
