Leona grabs late winner for Ferns
Premier One Shield final
Seaview United 2, Ferns United 3: Ferns retained their Premier One Shield when they overcame a very hard-working Seaview United who will feel unlucky not to have at least brought this final to extra-time.
Ferns started best and were 2-0 up within 20 minutes when goals from Leona Breen and Josie Dwyer had them in control, and they looked to be cruising.
However, Seaview showed great character and never gave up, and their perseverance eventually paid off when goals from Kellie Mullan and Catherine Doyle brought the sides back level with 15 minutes to go.
As the game looked to be heading for extra-time, Ferns were awarded a free-kick and Leona Breen stepped up to hammer home from 20 yards out.
Seaview did attempt to get back but time was against them and it was Ferns who breathed a sigh of relief when referee Philip McGrath blew the final whistle.
League committee member Greg Gabbett was on hand to present the Shield to Ferns captain Josie Dwyer, and a well-deserved player of the match award to Leona Breen.
Division al Shield final
Cloughbawn AFC 2, Camolin Celtic 2 (AET, Cloughbawn won 2-1 on penalties): It took 110 minutes of football before these two evenly-matched sides eventually found a winner when Cloughbawn lifted the first-ever Divisional Shield after coming out on top in a penalty shoot-out.
Camolin Celtic took the lead when Megan Murray scored after 20 minutes, a lead they held until half-time, but early in the second-half, Cloughbawn were back on level terms when Gina Foley found the net. Fifteen minutes later, they were 2-1 ahead when Jessica Martin scored and it looked like the home side were heading for their second trophy of the season, having already won the Division 2A title.
However, Camolin continued to battle back and in injury time, Caroline Murphy found the net to tie the game up at 2-2. No further goals saw the game go to extra-time and then to penalties where Cloughbawn held their nerve to win 2-1 and become the first winners of the Divisional Shield.
League secretary Martin Cahill was on hand to present the shield to the victorious side and a well-deserved player of the match award to Cloughbawn’s Kate Cullen.
Michelle Coleman Cup
Kilmore United 5, All Blacks 0: This much-delayed Michelle Coleman Cup quarter-final was eventually played and Kilmore United came out on top of this local derby on a 5-0 scoreline to book a semi-final meeting away to Bree United next week.
Katrina Parrock was on target with a hat-trick while Lisa Power scored twice.

St. Joseph’s 4, Moyne Rangers 0: St. Joseph’s booked their place in the Boland Carpets Cup final when they overcame an understrength Moyne Rangers side 3-0, and now await the winners of Cloughbawn versus Camolin in the semi-final.
Emer O’Leary scored two with Sarah Walsh and Michelle Gahan scoring one each.
Women’ s Division 2 B
Seaview United ‘B’ 0, Bunclody AFC 4: Bunclody moved to within two points of the leaders with a game in hand after they made the long trip to Seaview and came away 4-0 winners.
Alex Weippert gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of halftime, and they controlled the second-half as Britney Conroy scored twice with Alma Morris also finding the net.
