Celtic await outcome of second Under-13 semi
WEXFORD CELTIC won the battle for a place in the S.F.A.I. Regional Under-13 Cup final with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Forth Celtic in the semi-final in Murrintown at the weekend.
They now await the winners of the other semi-final, between Evergreen (Kilkenny) and All Blacks, which is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7.30 p.m. in Gorey.
Meanwhile, three of the Under-11 Cup quarter-finals are now set after seven games were played on Saturday. Division 1 leaders Cloughbawn will travel to Gorey Celtic after both advanced against lower division opposition.
Camolin, who upset Wexford Celtic, will face Bunclody, the side which put an end to Wexford Bohs’ fairytale run.
Shelburne claimed the scalp of Oylegate and their reward is a last eight clash with Gorey Rangers.
Forth Celtic A also advanced and will face the winners of North End and Bridge Rovers.
Rovers joined North End at the top of the Division 1A table with victory over the All Blacks on Saturday. Meanwhile, Curracloe took a huge leap towards the Division 2 title with a win against second-placed Glynn-Barntown. They need just one win in their final four games to take the title.
Ferns joined Oylegate in second place by taking the points against Fethard, and they now sit nine points behind leaders Bunclody in Division 2A.
Elsewhere, New Ross Town B closed within six points of leaders Newpark in Division 3 with a win against Bree.
The Ballagh need just four points in their last two games to clinch the Division 3A title after victory over Killenagh. In Division 4, Rathnure edged title rivals AFC Legia 3-2 in a classic to stay three points clear of Gorey Celtic B at the summit.
St. Leonards booked an Under-13 Cup quarter-final meeting with Glynn-Barntown after edging Oylegate 4-1 on penalties. Also advancing to the last eight were Wexford Albion, Fethard Rangers and Shamrock Rovers A.
All Blacks kept their Under-13 Division 1 title hopes alive with a 4-2 win against St. Joseph’s. In Division 2, champions New Ross Town ended their league season in style with a big victory against St. Cormac’s.
While things didn’t work out for Oylegate in the cup, their Division 2A title chances received a boost with the leaders Shelburne being held by Ferns.
In Division 3, Gorey Celtic B are a point away from the title after beating Tombrack.
Gorey Rangers are the first side into the Under-15 Cup semi-finals after defeating Cloughbawn 2-0 at home last weekend.
They will hosts the winners of Campile and Wexford Albion in the last four.
While Rangers were in cup action, Forth Celtic leaped to the summit of the Division 1 table with a 5-2 win against Campile. Ballymurn Celtic thumped Bridge Rovers 5-1 in the top of the table clash in Division 1A, and they will wrap up the title with a point in their final game.
Without playing, New Ross Celtic are within a victory of taking the Division 2 crown after Camolin fell to St. Cormac’s.
Finally, in Division 3, Gorey Rangers B picked up a massive three points away to Kilmore to join them at the summit with two games remaining.
