HOUSE OF STORIES

Once again there was a large attendance in Ballindagg­in Hall for the monthly session of house of stories where a great night was had by all. The music was fantastic from all the dedicated musicians including a piece on the bagpipes from Pat Armstrong, who will join other band members as the Ballindagg­in Pipe Band head to London for St Patrick’s Day parade and bean an tí Anne wished them a safe journey and said they are the pride of the parish.

A vote of sympathy was passed to Ned Byrne and Peter Whelan on the death of Mary Byrne, Clonegal. Prayerful good wishes were extended to all who are unwell at present.

ST COLMANS SCHOOL

The parents’ council of St Colman’s NS, Ballindagg­in are holding a dance in the Millrace Hotel, Bunclody on Tuesday, March 28, with music by Liam Mannering. All proceeds in aid of school building fund.

Tickets at €10 are available in Jordan’s Shop and from the school and on the door on the night. There will be a raffle and door prizes on the night also. The parents’ council thank you for support.

Sellers prizes went to Eddie Doyle, Myles Roban, Denis Doyle and Malo Roban. The draw tonight (Tuesday. March 14) takes place in the Holy Grail. Jackpot is €3,600.

PIPE BAND

St Colman’s Pipe Band, Ball- indaggin will entertain spectators both at home and across the water on St Patrick’s weekend. On St Patrick’s Day they will take part in the Bunclody parade in the morning and then join the Enniscorth­y parade in the afternoon. On Saturday they will travel to London to lead the parade there on Sunday, March 19, where they always receive a great reception from the many Irish over there and indeed from the local English spectators too.

CAMOGIE

Duffry Rovers camogie club are celebratin­g their 40th anniversar­y this year and to mark the occasion the club is holding a dinner dance on Saturday, April 15, in the Riverside Park Hotel at 7.30 p.m. A great night of music and prizes guaranteed so club members want as many people as possible to get their glad rags on and come out and celebrate with them. Tickets are priced at €30 and are available from committee members or from club secretary at 085 2872428. Also the club is looking for photos anyone might have of players or teams over the past 40 years, if you do have any contact club secretary Melissa at above number.

GET FIT GET ACTIVE

Duffry Rovers GAA club, camogie club and Baile Dubh Tire ladies’ football club are running a number of ‘Get fit Get active’ events over the coming weeks. Keep your new year resolution going and do something positive for Lent, kick start your summer or just take part for a positive and healthier lifestyle while supporting your local clubs.

First registrati­on and weigh-in took place on Sunday, March 5, next registrati­on tonight Tuesday. March 7 and Thursday, March 9, at 7.45 p.m. in Coolree GAA Grounds. There will be 16 fitness classes every Tues. and Thurs. night 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry fees with classes individual €50. Individual without classes €25. Families €100. Groups of five €225. Family walks on Sundays (5km), March 12 Kilcullen windmill walk at midday. March 19 at midday walk from Coolree GAA grounds (€10 pp/€20 families).
