ART AREA TRIALS – Over 40 kids took part in this year’s Art Area Trial across various age groups. The standard was very high, so regardless of results well done to everyone who took part. Most importantl­y everyone had a fun afternoon with their friends. The top three in each category make it through to the county final held in Askea boy’s school Saturday, March 11. The results are as follows.

Girls under-8: First place; Ciara Fortune, second place; Ellie Byrne Roberts, third place; Ava Byrne and fourth place; Freya Coulahan. Girls under-10: first place; Sarah Smith, second place; Elizabeth Callaghan, third place; Megan Doyle and fourth place; Robyn Conway. Girls under-12: first place; Sophie Byrne, second place; Isabel Whitty, third place; Shanna Mae Brennan and fourth place; India Mernagh. Girls under-14: first place; Emma Byrne, second place; Aisling Byrne, third place; Cara Murphy and fourth place; Eimear Cowman.

Boys under-8: First place; Jamie Conway, second place; Noah Byrne and third place; Killian Warren. Boys under-10: first place; Joe Warren, second place; James Knight, third place; Seán Byrne and fourth place; David Whitty. Boys under-12: first place; Eamonn Murphy and second place; Alex Callaghan.

HANDWRITIN­G AREA TRI- AL RESULTS – Slaney Valley held their Handwritin­g Area Trial last Thursday evening and as always a high standard made it as competitiv­e as ever, well done to all who took part. The top three will go on to represent Slaney Valley at the county final.

Results: under-10 girls: First place; Olivia Romaniec, second place; Aoife Byrne, third place Abbie Gray and fourth place Elizabeth Callaghan. Under-10 boys: first place; Johnny Sheppard, second place; David Whitty and third place; Niall McGrath. under-12 girls: first place; Chloe Roberts, second place; Nicole Roberts, third place; Isabel Whitty and fourth place; Aoife Murphy. under-12 boys: first place; Darragh Roberts, second place; Seán Smith, third place; Alex Callaghan and fourth place; Eamonn Murphy.

SONG AND STORY

The house of song and Story will take place Monday, March 20, in St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal at 8 p.m. All are most welcome.

GAA LOTTO

The Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Osborne’s Lounge, Clonegal, on Sunday, March 5. Numbers drawn were 02, 07, 14 and 27. There was no winner of the jackpot of €5,800. The winners of match three werel, Declan Tobin, Kilcarry and Niamh Cox, Ballyshean­carragh, receiving €75 each. Seller’s prize goes to Brian Plunkett receiving €50. The next draw will take place in Ryan’s ‘The Moss House’, Bunclody, on Sunday, March 19, at.

10.30 p.m., with a jackpot worth €6,000. Tickets €2 each.

DRAMA GROUP

Kildavin-Clonegal Drama Group are delighted to announce an extra date of ‘The Maiden Aunt’ by Jimmy Keary on March 26 at 8 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Pathway to the GAA pitch project, an initiative by the Kildavin Developmen­t Associatio­n.
