LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS WAS A RESOUNDING HIT WITH AUDIENCES

- BY ESTHER HAYDEN

THERE were plenty of 50s vibes in Enniscorthy last week as Little Shop of Horrors took to the stage.

The hit musical which was staged by Enniscorthy Musical Society brought large crowds to Colaiste Bride over its five night run.

Little Shop of Horrors was a lively, tongue-in-cheek show with plenty of catchy 1950s style music which kept the audience bopping and rocking in their seats.

The musical is a bizarre tale set in a florist shop, featuring a man eating plant and an evil dentist.

Chairperson Anne Maguire said the show had been a resounding success with standing ovations every night.

‘We went really fantastically for us. Every night was great which we were delighted about.’

James Dobbs took on the role of Seymore while Niamh Bolger was Audrey. Lorcan Dunne took on the role of Mr Mushnik with Therese Canavan Bolger, Michella White and Ashley Dunne acting as the three singers.

The dentist was played by Neal O’Leary and Benny Redmond took on the voice of Audrey.

The show was directed by Paul Walsh with Kevin Kennedy as musical director. Anne Marie Cooney was the choreographer.

Anne said that the Enniscor- thy Musical Society has chosen to stage Little Shop of Horrors this year because it is such a fun musical. ‘We all liked it. It’s very catchy and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a very entertaining musical.’
