FESTIVAL OF CRAFTS

Festival of crafts and Demonstrat­ions 2017, in Conjunctio­n with Carlow County Council, will hold demonstrat­ions of weaving, spinning, arts and crafts on Saturday, May 6, at the Weavers’ Cottages, Clonegal. Free Admission, donations accepted.

SONGS OF PRAISE

A night of songs and Praise will be held in St Fiaac’s Church, Clonegal, on Sunday, April 30, at 8 p.m., in aid of Wicklow Hospice Care and Church Funds. All are very welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Slaney Valley Community Games will be holding a 4-mile ‘Fun Run’ in Ardattin on Monday, May 1, at 5 p.m. This is sure to be great fun for all the family with prizes for first man and first woman home. Also lots of fun spot prizes. Registrati­on at 4.30 p.m., run starts at 5 p.m. Fee: €10 per adult, €5 per child or €20 for a family. Light refreshmen­ts afterwards in Ardattin Hall. Please support this fun event.

GAA LOTTO

The Kildavin-Clonegal GAA lotto was held in Dunne’s lounge, Clonegal, Monday, April 17. Numbers drawn were 01, 15, 19 and 27. There was no winner of the jackpot of €6,400. The winners of match three were, Joanne Cummins, Kildavin, Jane Hayden, Crowsgrove, Eileen Kelly, Bagenalsto­wn and Ciara Whelan, Monaughrim. Seller’s prize goes to Luke Hayden receiving €50. The next draw will take place in Osborne’s Lounge, Clonegal, on Sunday, April 30, at 10.30 p.m., with a jackpot worth €6,600. Tickets €2 each.

BLUEBELLS AT HUNTINGTON

May is a busy month Huntington Castle. The gardens are open every day and the tearoom at weekends. There will be a beautiful carpet of bluebells in the Wilderness and last year a very rare white bluebells so come along and enjoy springtime at its best. The gardens are open daily May – September 10.00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost €5 per adult and €2.50 per child, which includes entry to the adventure playground.

THE MONDAY CLUB

Come along and brighten up your Monday mornings with ‘The Monday Club’ at St Mary’s Centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody. Throughout the year we will have informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics.

On Monday, May 8, and 16: ‘Keep up with Modern Technology’. Students from FCJ will help you improve your skills on phone, tablet, laptop, etc. Sessions will include basic skills, downloadin­g apps of interest, Skype, saving photos, etc. These sessions will be carried out throughout the year.

Monday, May 22: ‘Spring Gardening’ with Fergal Joy (Glanbia). Monday, May 29: ‘Arts, crafts and Activities’ e.g. darts, card playing, board games, etc.

Entrance Fee only €4 which includes tea or coffee and Light Lunch. This Club will suit the 60+ age group. Transport not provided.
