Big turnout at networking talk in Kilcannon

-

CORPORATE Social Responsibility was examined at a recent Networking Lunch organised by Enniscorthy and District Chamber.

Speaker on the day was Tim Greig of BYN Mellon who spoke about ways in which businesses could introduce Corporate Social Responsibility activities in their companies.

Tim said that the term Corporate Social Responsibility can seem off-putting to a lot of smaller businesses, however, it needn’t be. He said that acting in a way that shows some level of care for staff, community and customers is a good start to a strong CSR ethos. CSR should be integrated into every aspect of a business and lie at the core of a company’s overall strategy.

During the lunch which took place in Kilcannon Garden Centre Tim said that despite misconceptions, CSR doesn’t have to mean big money and he outlined that any business, no matter how big or small, can implement an effective CSR strategy.

Acting CEO of Enniscorthy Chamber of Commerce Jimmy Gahan said about 24 members of the chamber attended the lunch and they were all very interested in the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility.

‘It was a very positive lunch and I think Tim’s talk gave everyone food for thought. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future as I feel that many of our members benefited greatly from it.’
