MARSHALSTO­WN PATRON

The annual patron and blessing of graves is in Marshalsto­wn on Sunday, May 28. Prayers in the Old Cemetery at 1.50 p.m. Mass and Prayers in the Present Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Sympathy is extended to Jimmy Foley and family on the death of his brother Martin Foley. May he rest in peace.

CASTLEDOCK­RELL CEMETERY

Following new regulation­s by Wexford County Council these are the guidelines for burials in Castledock­rell Cemetery (and all other cemeteries owned by Wexford County Council). NO burials can take place on a Sunday.

Burials on the other days – Funerals must arrive at cemetery gate by 2 p.m. which means the latest time a Funeral Mass may be celebrated is midday. For further informatio­n or any queries please contact Wexford County Council. Please note these rules do not apply to Marshalsto­wn Cemetery.

OPEN DAY

An open day at Walter Kelly, Tombrick Gardens is on Sunday, June 11, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in aid of St Anthony’s Unit, County Wexford Community Workshop, Enniscorth­y. Tea served and there will be a raffle on the day.

CASTLEDOCK­RELL PATRON

The annual patron and blessing of graves will take place in Castledock­rell on Friday, July 7, with Prayers at the church cemetery at 7.45 p.m. followed by Prayers in the Present Cemetery at 8 p.m.

SCHOOL PROJECT

Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collection­s free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collection­s which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939. It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritte­n stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties.

Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledock­rell NS, Marshalsto­wn NS and Monart NS. It gives an interestin­g insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

Marshalsto­wn Community Centre membership is now due adults €20, under-18 €10 families €40. It must be paid by May 31 to be eligible to vote in next year’s AGM.

Our bingo continues on Thursday nights both snowballs are worth €2,000. Book prices range from €2.50 to €6.

The social dancing continues on the third Friday of every month this months performer is Pat Daly.

Claire’s Irish dancing class is on Tuesday evening’s from 6 p.m. Andy’s fitness class continues on Tuesday night’s from 8 p.m. pay as you go.

GAA LOTTO

Marshalsto­wn-Castledock­rell lotto results for Thursday, May 18. Winning numbers, 12, 17, 18, 21. No winner. Matchthree winners, Eileen Kinsella and Michael Doyle wins €50.
