GREEN FLAG

Kiltealy NS were recently successful in receiving a second green flag award for the school on the theme of Energy. Their first green flag was on the theme of litter and waste. Two pupils who are senior members of the green flag committee will attend an award ceremony in Hotel Kilkenny today (Tuesday, May 23) with principal Ms Mary Carroll and green flag co-ordinator Ms Maeve Duff where they will be presented with the green flag by An Taisce. Well done to all concerned.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Twenty five children pupils of St Colman’s NS, Ballindagg­in will receive their first Holy Communion in St Colman’s Church on Saturday next, May 27, at 11 a.m. The children and their teachers and parents have been busy preparing for the sacrament and we wish them a lovely day on this important occasion in their lives.

CLOTHES RECYCLE

Thanks to everyone who supported the recent clothes recycle for Kiltealy NS. It was another very successful collection with over a tonne of clothes left in on this occasion. Newspaper recycling bins are also in the school yard which generates funds for the school. Your support of our school is always appreciate­d.

RACE NIGHT

Ballindagg­in Developmen­t Group are holding a ‘race night’ at Enniscorth­y Greyhound Track to raise funds for the community park in the village. Please note change of date due to double booking of the track, the race night will now take place on June 12Tickets are now on sale throughout the area at €10 which includes admission, race card and free draw for a weekend break away. Anyone, who would like to have their businesses advertised on the race card on the night contact Aileen at 087 7552593 before next weekend. Nine race card, first race at 8 p.m., bar open, food served, a great night assured.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Ballindagg­in annual patron takes this year on Friday, June 23, at 8 p.m. The patron in Templesham­bo old cemetery will be held at 7 p.m. on the same date Friday, June 23, LOTTO.

One player matched three last week Thos Kavanagh, The Springs winning €150. The draw tonight is in the Holy Grail and the jackpot is €2,200.

POINT TO POINT

Congratula­tions are in order again for jockey Barry O’Neill, Monbeg, Ballindagg­in. Barry ended the 11-year run of titles for Jamie Codd in the East as he picked up his first regional title when being crowned Champion Eastern Jockey following the final meeting in the East at Stradbally recently.

SPLIT THE POT

Winner of the Kiltealy NS splitthe-pot was last week was Pauline Cowman, who scooped €204. Play split-the-pot every week envelopes available locally. Thanks for your continued support.

The next social will be held in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday next, May 26, with music by Peter Burke. Always a great night out. Tea and refreshmen­ts served. Admission €8. Doors open 9.30 p.m.
