The first of the seasons club majors for the gents is on next weekend, namely the Bloomfield Cup. The sponsor for the competition is Kiely Donohoe Wholesale. Rumour has it that there is a lot of practising going on!
The club singles and club fourball competitions will be starting again shortly. All matches will be off the whites this year. Entry is €5 per person and entry forms are in the Pro Shop. 9/10 handicap will apply to the fourball. The draw for the fourball was held last Saturday and some eagerly awaited clashes are due to take place.
Calling all soccer clubs in the county. We are hosting a soccer clubs golf tournament on Saturday June 3, same day as the Champions League final for all soccer clubs that play in the Wexford League.
This includes mens, ladies and their referees too. We are looking for four representatives from each club to play in both a combined singles and team event.
The best three scores form the team result and there will be singles prizes too for the best players on the day. Please reply to the e-mails that have already been sent out by May 20 in order to register your team please.
The gents open seniors is on the second Thursday of every month. There are changes to the age groups and they are as follows, 50 to 65, 66 to 75 and 76+.
The most popular and best attended gents senior open in the region. The ladies equivalent is on the third Thursday of every month.
The ever popular ladies and gents open singles made a welcome return after the winter break and is open to all membership categories. If you know of anyone who might be interested in this competition then please bring them along. Timesheets are now open for booking for virtually every Monday throughout the year.

Our AIG Barton Shield team were in action in a regional qualifer in Coollattin G. C. on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21.
Some great play on the Saturday saw us qualifying as leading qualifiers to play in Sunday mornings semi-final against Courtown G. C.
Unfortunately, the games didn’t go our way on Sunday and Courtown won by two holes. Despite the defeat we can be proud of our efforts as this is the first time since 2011, when we went on to become Leinster champions, that we have qualified for the semi-finals in a regional qualifier.
Well played to our pairings of Graham and Maurice Donohoe and Paul Lynch and Jason Rackard. The team was managed by Denis Dunne.
Our Brennan Cup team, managed by Paul Connolly, were also in action last weekend.
We had an away draw, meaning that all five games were played away.
Despite this challenge of playing all games in Blainroe G. C. we advanced to the next round by beating our hosts on a score of three games to two.
