ENNISCORTHY LADIES

-

Our Tuesday ladies on May 16 competition began with grey skies which soon cleared to bring sunshine for our Scotch Foresomes competition. The competition was for a place to go forward to play the Australian Spoons competition. It was sponsored by Westgate Design. The results were as follows:

1st: Helen D’Eathe (29) and Pauline Rogan (30) playing H/C 29, 38 points; 2nd: Margaret Mooney (9) and Marie Dunphy (19) playing H/C 13, 37 points; Gross: Laura Dempsey (5) and Marie Duggan (17) playing H/C 10, 23 Gross points. 9 hole Qualifier - Chris Yates 12 points, Back 6. Our Open Senior competition was held on Thursday 18th and was sponsored by Mervyn Cooney. The following are the results:

First Overall: Mary Breen (26) 37 points; First Cat. A: Marina Hatton (34) 35 points; First Cat. B: Bernie Webster (19) 33 points; First Cat. C: Bernie Delaney (25) 34 points; Visitor/Gross: Anne Kelly, Rosslare (29) 28 points.

Next Tuesday, May 30, competition is sponsored by IFA Centre and is a singles stableford competition.

Our teams are keeping us very. The Finn Trophy was a very close match against New Ross. However, it wasn’t to be Enniscorthy’s day.

The Senior Cup was played in Athy and Enniscorthy played Woodenbridge in the quarter-finals earning them a place in the semi-finals for an early start on Sunday against The Heath.

Enniscorthy fought a tough battle on the fairways and unfortunately were defeated despite their magnificent display of golf. The upcoming matches are: Mary McKenna v New Ross in Enniscorthy on May 25. Challenge Cup v Tulfarris in Mount Wolseley on May 27 at 4pm.

The Boyne Trophy v Wexford with home and away matches on May 29 at 2pm.

We wish our teams, managers and caddies the best of luck.
