STUDENTS GET THEIR JUST REWARDS FOR A BUSY YEAR
AFTER another busy year at Coláiste Bhríde Carnew, the students were last week rewarded for their hard work and achievements.
Certificates, medals, trophies and other prizes were presented to students who excelled in academics, sports, volunteerism, leadership, debating, music and much more. Awards went to the following students: First year: Students of the Year: Isabella Ni Chonaill; Max Moroney; James Doyle; Sadhbh Dempsey. Academic excellence certs: Ciarán O’Sullivan; Abbie Walsh; Victoria Dranko; Lucy Kemple; Máire Deegan; Zoe Katus; Aaron Keogh.
Second year: Student of the Year, Youna McGrath. Also honoured: Teresa Phelan; Bree Greene; and Aidan Kavanagh.
Third year: Student of the Year, Sarah Kenny. Also honoured for academic achievement: Killian Byrne; Abby Doyle; Leah Walker; Cora Tyrrell; Alanna Davidson; Ciaran O’Keeffe.
Fifth year awards: Megan O’Reilly; Leah Sankaran; and Rebekah Kenny. Also honoured: Aoife Mooney; Julie Mullins; Martin Quinn; Gráinne Hughes; Grace O’Sullivan; Ava Young; Diego Molamphy.
Sixth year: Student of the Year, Emer Rose Kealy. Also honoured for academic excellence: Maria Byrne; Tara Dolan; Ann Marie Doyle; Alex Lach; Justyne Lawless; Abbie Nugent; Charlotte Redmond; Conor Byrne.
The transition year celebration evening was attended by 107 students. Each student received a folder of certificates for the various activities during the year. Corn na hIdirbhliana were awarded to: Grace O’Halloran; Orla Montague; Sarah Mulhall; Niamh Doyle; James O’Keeffe; Fiona Boland; Caitlin Black; Róisín Byrne. Spirit of TY: Ciara and Aoife Breen. The overall Student of the Year went to Órla Kealy.
Some 47 students received bronze Gaisce medals. Awards were presented for modules in law, Japanese, Italian, drama and more. Student Adam Stedmond was surprised with the news that he won second prize in the ‘Story of your Stuff ’ competition organised by the EPA. Special thanks went to Ms Byrne, Ms Lee and members of the Core Group for their continued commitment to the transition year programme.
