FOUR-MILE ROAD RACE

The Mick Murphy Memorial four-mile road race will take place Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. Enter online for €15 at gorun.ie or on the day for €20. The starting point is outside St Aidan’s Church, Ferns. The route then encompasse­s a lap of the’V’ in Ferns village before leaving the square at Ferns Castle to continue out past the GAA grounds. Then it’s a left turn for Ballycarne­y, before the course swings to the left down the stump lane. Emerging on the N11 just before the three-mile marker sees entrants continue on the hard shoulder till swinging left at Kavanaghs funeral home and it’s straight up the street to the finish line. The course will have mile markers on it. Refreshmen­ts are available after the race in the function room of the Courtyard Bar in Ferns. READING ADVENTURE

The popular Summer Stars Reading Adventure is back in Bunclody Library Saturday, June 10. Come along on and meet author Caroline Busher, author of Ghosts of Magnificen­t Children at 2.30 p.m. Caroline will facilitate a creative writing and reading workshop for children, suitable for ages nine to 12 years. Story time with Ana Sofia Ramos for children aged four years and upwards will be held in Gorey Library on Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. GRAIGUENAM­ANAGH TO ST MULLINS 12KM WALK

On Saturday, June 10, a 12km walk will take place from Graiguenam­anagh to St Mullins. It is in aid of Bru Columbanas, a home from home for relatives of sick people who are patients in Cork hospitals. This home in Cork City is a place of accommodat­ion for all, especially relatives of sick children. It relies totally on voluntary donations to keep going.
