Big chamber welcome for new Taoiseach
WEXFORD Chamber has congratulated Leo Varadkar on his election as Taoiseach and says it could be good for business. At the same time it is encouraging more businesses to join one of the four chambers in the county to strengthen their lobbying power with the Varadkar-led government.
Karl Fitzpatrick, President of Wexford Chamber, said he wanted to wish Leo every success in his new role as leader of the country.
‘As a Deputy of Dáil Éireann and Minister, Leo Varadkar has always made time to engage with and listen to the interests and concerns of the business community across Ireland. We look forward to further positive engagement in coming months and years,’ said Karl.
‘Currently the number one priority for Chambers across the country is increased capital investment and delivery of key infrastructure projects that can enable future growth and protect economic competitiveness.
‘We welcome An Taoiseach’s vocal commitment to increasing capital investment and we urge him to deliver on this commitment. Ensuring we have a resilient economy must be our priority and it is our view that investment, including the identification and use of alternative funding models, and fiscal prudence must be balanced.’
‘As we move into a new political chapter, it is vital that businesses join their local Chamber,’ said Madeleine Quirke, CEO of Wexford Chamber.
‘ The Chamber is fundamentally a business representative and lobbying organization; it is dedicated to campaigning for direct action on the key issues that affect business and the longterm development of the area.
‘ Through Chambers Ireland, we have direct access to our TDs and other key influencers and can lobby Government on policy to create a better environment for business. We continue to support SMEs and facilitate trade.’
‘Wexford Chamber supports local business representatives who together promote the economic and social development of their community in order to make it a better place in which to live, work and do business. The largest business organisation in the country, becoming a Member is a sound investment in your business. Networking, learning opportunities, promotion of your business through Chamber newsletter, website and social media, get up to date information and news on a regular basis and ensure that your voice is heard on local business issues,’ she said.
Wexford business is represented by four Chambers throughout the county.
