Dickens’ classic tale for outdoor theatre at Wells

-

‘GREAT Expectations’, the timeless Charles Dickens classic, will be brought to life at Wells House and Gardens this summer. The Chapterhouse Theatre Company will present an open air theatre adaptation of the much-loved story on the front lawn of the big house at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.

Each year, Chapterhouse visits castles, country estates and heritage sites with adaptations of literature’s most loved stories.

Charles Dickens’ unforgettable story of love, family and friendship is set in the depths of Victorian England. From the haunting marshlands of Kent, to the bustling streets of Victorian London, this epic tale follows the fortunes of a young Pip as he falls in love, finds his fortune and makes his way in the world. The tale is brought to life with traditional music, full period costume, and a whole host of colourful characters from the dangerous convict Magwitch, to the elusive Estella, and of course, the eccentric and mysterious Miss Havisham.

Tickets are available from Wells House and Gardens on 053 9186737 or wellshouse.ie. Tickets are €19 for adults, €14 for children, and €15 for seniors. Family tickets for two adults and two children are €56, and a 10 per cent discount applies for parties of ten or more.
