FÉILE NA NGAEL

Our under-14 hurlers played host to Coothill last weekend in the Féile na nGael hurling competition and had a very enjoyable and action packed weekend.

On Saturday evening won through to the quarter final and beat Burren Rangers of Carlow by 3-8 to 2-3.This got them through to a semi-final versus St Maur’s of Dublin on Sunday morning. However, they were unable to overcome the Dublin team in the intense heat and lost by 2-8 to 1-6. They gave a great account of themselves and were within three points of Maur’s till the last few minutes of a very competitive game.

The club would like to thank all those who made it such an enjoyable weekend, the host families who took in the Coothill players, all those who helped with catering on Friday and Saturday, the photographer and the coaches and mentors, John, Leo, Patrick, Michael and Damien. And they would like especially like to thank the under-14 squad who represented the club with with pride and dedication.

GAA LOTTO

The jackpot was won. Mary Murphy of Killabeg had picked 1, 10, 18 and 28 and these numbers won her €9,400 on Tuesday last, June 13. Mary Daly of Tomsollagh had picked three of the lucky numbers and won the €160 match-three prize. The jackpot is reset at €2,000 for the next draw which takes place in the club complex in Monageer on Tuesday, June 27, at 9.30 p.m.

Tickets only cost €2 and can be had from all club members and local businesses. Your continuing support of the lotto is very much appreciate by the club as this money helps provided excellent facilities for the young hurlers, camogie players and footballers of the parish.

PATRON/FIELD DAY

The Parish Committee is appealing to all in Boolavogue to help in preparing for and running the field day which will be held after the annual patron in honour of St Cormac, which will be held on Sunday, June 25, at 3 p.m.

They are appealing to all households in Boolavogue to donate two or three items to the bottle stall. If you wish to donate, please leave them in the porch of the church. All donations for the cake stall can be left into the hall on the morning of the field day.

Instead of continuing with the ‘300-1 Cub’ draw, they are asking every household in Boolavogue to committ to selling six books of raffle tickets, €30 worth, for the ‘Big Draw’ which will be held in association with the upcoming field-day. This represents a great saving over buying ‘300-1 Club’ tickets and field day tickets and so your generous support would be very much appreciated.
