Kilmuckridge’s Sheila gets signed

- with Maria Nolan

WEXFORD Literary Festival is thrilled to announce that yet another Wexford author, Kilmuckridge native Sheila Forsey, pictured left, has just been signed by Endeavor Press, London. Her debut novel, Mending Lace, will be published later this year. Compelling, poignant and emotionally gripping, Mending Lace centers around Sive, who finds the comfortable life she leads shattered in the aftermath of her husband, Dan’s, attempt to end his life. While Dan struggles to recover, Sive uncovers a trail of deceit and financial chaos which has the power to destroy them. Do second chances happen, or are they just for fairy tales? Is love alone enough to pull someone back from the edge of darkness, before they lose themselves forever?

Sheila Forsey is a member of the Wexford Literary Festival Committee and over a year ago was signed by American Agent Tracy Brennan of the Trace Literary Agency, who has been a friend of the festival since its inception four years ago, attending the festival on two occasions and hosting a very popular Meet the Agent event.

Chairperson of the festival and best selling author Carmel Harrington said: ‘Sheila has a fresh, unique voice and is unafraid to tackle the big issues that are relevant in Irish society today.’

Sheila has always wanted to write a book, so in 2013, with the support of her husband Shane she walked away from her business of 10 years and enrolled in the creative writing course for publication at Maynooth University, where she graduated with an honours certificate. It was this that gave her the confidence to finish the novel that had occupied various colourful notebooks up to then.

She is currently working on her second novel, a story about an American woman who travels to Ireland to trace her roots, but in doing so uncovers her family’s dark past that could unravel their lives irrevocably.

This September, Sheila will be facilitating a series of workshops in Evolv Health Store, Enniscorthy, in creative writing. For details contact Evolv or Sheila directly at 087 6338027 or sheila.forsey@gmail.com.
