SEAFOOD FEAST IN KILMORE

THE SEASIDE community of Kilmore Quay will make great waves from July 5 to July 9 for their 32nd annual Sea food Festival.

The festival launch wilt take place tomorrow (July 5) when the Quay Notes; Choir will perform a small selection of songs from their repertoire in the Stella Maris Centre. at 8 p.m.. followed by a Seafood Platter Competitio­n at 9.31) p.m, judged by Kelly's Resort Hotel executive chef Eugene Callaghan.

Throughout the festival people ca n enjoy some Seafood Platte rs for €13 in the Stella Maris Centre from 1230 p.m. until 730 p.m.

On Thursday. July 6. music group Point Blank will perform at the quayfront at 7 p.m., followed by the grand festival parade at 7.30 p.m. which will start from the Garda station ALL will be unveiled at 8 pm. after the parade wh en a special guest will officially open the fe stiva L at the Marina area.

Derry Clarke of L'Ecrivain and Eugene Callaghan of Kelly's Resort Hotel will provide some cookery demonstrat­ions at this year's Fish Friday Market July 7. The market Hill take place from 11 am until 5 p.m. in the mai quee at the marina. where you can taste and buy a wide range of fish and seafood.

There will besea kayaking on the Little beach from 2 pm. until 6 p.m. fore l2 per lesson under the profession­al instructio­n of Shielbagga­n Outdoor Education Centre. Also at little beach. the rewill be

a Family Fun Day from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Jim Hurley will be giving a lecture on Bridgetown’s canal history and wildlife in the Stella Maris Centre at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, July 8, visitors and locals alike can come to the Marina to check out the Harbour Stalls and Food Court. There will be a teddy bears’ picnic at 1 p.m. in the Shipwreck Cove Playground which is sure to go down a treat for the younger children.

Bruce McDonald will give a tour of the rock pools and the beach to participan­ts, where they will have the opportunit­y to learn the thrill of foraging. This event starts at midday from the Marina Gate.

The evening will draw to a close with sunset yoga led by Eileen Rowe at 9 p.m., In the playground car park. But if you prefer a Sea Shanty sing-along, the Molgoggers from Cobh will be performing in Kehoe’s Pub at 9.30 p.m.

Start your Sunday, July 9, bright and early with Sunrise Yoga with Eileen Rowe at 7 a.m. or enjoy a lazy afternoon browsing through the Harbour Stalls at the Marina from midday.

The Molgoggers will liven things up at 2 p.m. on the Quay Front before one of the main events of the day – Festival Céilí Mór at 3 p.m.

Kilmore Quay rockers The Submersibl­es will bring the festival to a close at 5.30 p.m. in the Marina Arena as they encourage everyone to kick their shoes off and dance in the summer seaside air.
