This was a rare quiet weekend for the Sliabh Buidhe Rovers but one with several outstanding performances.

Paul Gibbons started things off mightily by winning the Castlebridge 6k on Friday in outstanding fashion. Paul edged Slaney’s Colm Cooper for the win.

He was followed home by Willie Rossiter who finished seventh in a very competitive field. Michael Sweeney had a strong run as well, coming in 24th overall.

Belinda Kehoe was the star Saturday with a brilliant win at the Gorey Parkrun in 21:31 for 5k. Her time was close to a Parkrun P.B. but most impressively Belinda was fourth overall in the field of 38. Well done Belinda!

This is a big week ahead for S.B.R. The Wexford track and field championships take place Wednesday at the Enniscorthy Sports Hub with full details on www.sbrclub.com.

All club information and fixtures are available at www.sbrclub.com. support Davy and the boys, Niall Sheil travelled to Tullamore to compete in the national Masters track and field events.

Now in the Over-40 category, Niall competed in the 5,000m. Conditions were perfect and in a competitive race Niall got his tactics spot on.

With a lap to go he was lying in fourth position but timed his kick to perfection and put in a great performance to take the national title.

This puts Niall in a great position as he prepares for the county championships this week and the European Masters championships later in the month in Denmark.

Niall had great support from his clubmate Nicky Cowman, who was working hard officiating in the field events.

As always his coach Pavel Kolesnikov was track side making sure everything was going to plan.
