ENNISCORTHYLADIES

-

There was a very unsettled start to our ladies’ competition on Tuesday, June 27, with rain for the early players. However, as the morning progressed it gave way to a brighter day.

The competition was part of open week and was a ladies’ and gents’ open singles competition. The ladies competition was sponsored by Treacy’s Hotel.

Results: 1, Connie Doyle (7), 40 points; 2, Sarah Baker (Nenagh, 13), 39 points; 3, Pauline Murphy (30), 38 points (back nine); 4, Vera Garry (22), 38 points; 5, Joy Conville (22), 38 points; nine-hole qualifier, Ann McGibney, 16 points.

The ladies are all looking forward to Saturday, July 8, our lady Captain Mary McCauley’s prize. This is a stroke competition and the timesheet is filling up rapidly.

The Tuesday, July 11, competition is sponsored by Valentia Nursing Home and is a singles stableford.

The ladies’ Intermediate team members were in hard luck as they played Mount Juliet in Faithlegg on Tuesday. Unfortunately, despite their very best efforts, playing a long, tough match, their journey came to an end. Commiserations to the manager, team and caddies.

Congratulations to the Senior foursomes who played Castlecomer in Gowran on Wednesday and had a fantastic win. Well done to all concerned.

The Revive Active played Gowran on Saturday with three away matches and two at home. However, it was not to be for the Enniscorthy ladies and Gowran claimed victory.
