Business owners in Bunclody team up for growth
LOCAL business owners gathered in the Millrace Hotel, Bunclody, last week for a networking event organised by Bunclody Town Team in conjunction with the County Councils in Wexford and Carlow.
More than 80 people were addressed by speakers including Fiona Cousins from Our Back Yard Jams, and Mary O’Neill from O’Neill’s Dry Cure Bacon Company who shared their success stories. Also present was David Fitzsimons from Retail Excellence. Daniel O’Reilly acted as MC for the event.
The enterprise support committee of Bunclody Town
Team, which is headed by local businessman Joe O’Reilly from SuperValu, organised the event.
It was part of the Bunclody REDZ programme, a joint initiative of Wexford and Carlow County Councils, in conjunction with the community in the Bunclody area, to promote enterprise and employment in Bunclody Town and hinterland.
The event gave those present the chance to network with others, to apply for business training supports, and information was available on upcoming business grants.
The focus in Bunclody is now on working together and helping each other. The Town Team recently created a Facebook page ‘Bunclody Means Business’ to promote local businesses and upcoming events.
Representatives from Wexford and Carlow Local Enterprise Offices and Enniscorthy Chamber of Commerce were present and offered assistance and support.
Bunclody Town Team will shortly distribute information on grants available for businesses based in the Bunclody area and anyone interested is asked to make contact through the Facebook page or through the community development section at Wexford County Council.
