The field day held after the patron on June 25 made in excess of €11,000. Slightly over €4,500 of the total came from the field day itself with the wheel of fortune contributi­ng €1,220 of this.

The Home Produce and tea stall made a whopping €621 while the bottle stall was not far behind, making €617.

The collection on the cemetery gate made €2,250.40 while the ‘Big Draw’ totalled €3,977.95 even afer expenses of €630 had been paid.

The Parish Committee would like to thank all those who helped in any way, those who donated goods and prizes, those who sold tickets, those who collected goods for the various stalls all the volunteer helpers on the day and especially everyone who at- tended and made the venture so successful.

300-1 CLUB

Catherine Roben, Tomnaboley won the top prize of €150 in the May 300-1 Club draw with second prize, €50 going to Susie Lacey, Tobar Geal. Jim and Kathleen Turner, Tomnaboley, June Corcoran, Knocknasge­ach, John and Anne Gahan, The Moate and Jimmy and Bernie Flood, Ballycarri­geen all won €25 prizes. The Parish Commiteee would like to thank all those who have supported the 300-1 Club Draw over the years and if there is sufficient interest in running it at some future date, it may be restarted.

SEISIÚIN

Tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 5, sees the first of this summer’s ‘Seisiúin’ starting in the Fr Murphy Center in Tomnaboley. They will be held every Wednesday night for July and August. The fun will start at 9 p.m. and will feature great music, singing and dancing. Be early or all the good seats will be taken.

CÚL CAMP

The Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp which will cater for hurling, football and camogie players will be held in Monageer from July 31 till August 4. The cost is only €60 for the first child from a family, €50 for the second and €40 for each other child. Those, who had already booked places collected their gear from the club yesterday, Monday, July 3, and they were all delighted with the kitbag, jersey and training top.

GAA LOTTO

There was no outright winner of the €2,000 jackpot in the last Monageer-Boolavogue GAA lotto draw but two tickets had three of the numbers drawn, winning €80 for Órla Gahan and €80 for Patrick and Mandy Ivory. For the next draw on Tuesday, July 11, the jackpot will be €2,100 and tickets can be had from all club mem- bers and many local businesses. In the near future, the club hopes to be able to offer the option of purchasing your ticket online.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

On Saturday night, July 8, Aodhagán Swords is reading at the Vigil Mass with James Breen reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning. Minister for the Eucharist at the Vigil Mass is Geraldine Doyle with Catherine Gahan assisting at Communion on Sunday, July 9.

KIDS’ CLUB

A Kids’ summer camp will be held in Ferns from Tuesday the eighth. till Friday, August 11, inclusive, from 10.30 a.m. till 12.30 p.m. The activities will include games, crafts, Bible stories, songs, quizzes and healthy snacks. SOCCER NEWS

Congratula­tions to Éinín Rossiter, who was selected as the young women’s Player of the Year by St Cormac’s for the 20162017 season, and to Ciara Larkin, who scooped the award for the ‘Women’s Player of the Year’. Well done also to Aoife Walsh, the ‘Most Improved Player’ of last season and Lorraine Fortune, the goalscorer of the year.
