Buddy up for major musical event
THERE WAS a great taster of what’s to come as the Enniscorthy production of the hit musical Buddy had its official launch at The Presentation Centre on Wednesday night.
With Enniscorthy being a town with a particular passion for rock n’ roll, the musical, which tells the story of the legendary Buddy Holly and his band The Crickets, has gained a massive amount of interest, something which was clear by the attendance and excitement at the launch.
Rehearsals are now well under way for the production, which will hit the stage at The Presentation Centre on July 30 and 31, and August 1, 2, 3 and 6 and is an official fringe event for this year’s Rockin’ Food Fest. All proceeds raised from the production will go directly towards Pieta House and everyone involved is delighted to be lending their time and talents to raise funds for such a worthy cause.
‘The launch night was a huge success,’ said Producer Adrienne Murphy. ‘We had a strong contingent from the South East Rock N’ Roll Club and Sinead Kehoe from Pieta House also came to tell people how the funds would be used. Then the lads who are playing Buddy & The Crickets hopped up and played four songs and people were crying out for more. People thought they had been playing together for years when in actual fact they were put together for this project!’
Tickets for Buddy the Musical are currently on sale and selling fast from The Presentation Centre and for those interested in a rockin’ fun time, it is recommended you get in quick and pick up your tickets today.
