KILTEALY PARK FEST

Saturday, August 19, is fast approachin­g and preparatio­ns are well under way for Kiltealy Kidfest and Parkfest.

Kidfest will take place at the hall from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free with disco, face-painting, games, races, activities and meet and greet with all your favourite Disney characters. There will be a barbecue from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (€5), pony rides (€2) and tea and refreshmen­ts.

Parkfest kicks off at 8 p.m. with music by Noel ‘Collie’ Collins. The barbecue starts up again at 9 p.m. The popular band ‘American Heart’ will take to the stage at 10 p.m. till midnight DJ Gurdy will then take over the music and entertainm­ent.

Tickets to Parkfest are €15 which includes the barbecue. There are also many door prizes to be won with the tickets including dinner for two in the Riverside Park Hotel.

Please support this worthy cause as all money raised will go towards the constructi­on of a park and playground in Kiltealy, for which planning permission has been secured. Tickets are available in Bowe’s Shop, The Thatch, Mohurry Mills and from all committee members.

HOUSE OF STORIES

There was a huge attendance and great entertainm­ent at Ballindagg­in House of stories on Thursday night last with foot tapping music, beautiful singing, recitation­s and tall tales. Much to the delight of all Jack Kilbride was welcomed back amid prolonged applause.

There was also a great welcome for some visitors from Donegal, who enjoyed their first experience of house of stories. Sincere sympathy was extended to the family and friends of the late Fr Fintan Morris, whose untimely death is deeply mourned. Sympathy was also extended to Andy Doyle and Margo Burke on their recent bereavemen­ts. Prayerful good wishes was extended to Michelle Quigley and Shane Pendergast for a full and complete recovery to health.

KILTEALY PATRON

There was a huge attendance at Kiltealy patron on Sunday, August 6, Due to the very bad weather on the day Mass was celebrated in the church by Fr Jim Fegan PP with Bishop Denis Brennan D.D. also in attendance.

Prayers were recited in the churchyard cemetery with blessing of the graves before Mass and prayers and blessing of graves took place in the new cemetery after Mass. The weather obliged for a short time while Ballindag- gin Pipe Band led the attendance to the Community Hall where all had a fun afternoon.

COFFEE MORNING

On behalf of the Ray of Sunshine Foundation Thomas and Ailish Atkinson will be holding a coffee morning in the Thatch, Kiltealy on Sunday, August 20, to raise funds for to build a refuge centre for street children in Kenya. They will travel to Kenya as part of the building group in January 2018. Your support would be appreciate­d.

CE SCHEME

Rathnure Killanne Blackstair­s CE have a vacancy in the following area: Groundsper­son – Ballindagg­in and Kiltealy Parish, start date – ASAP. This is a developmen­tal opportunit­y, no experience necessary.

Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Duties will include; environmen­tal work, grass cutting, litter control, spraying, weeding, strimming and general maintance work. Days per week – 2.5, hours per week – 19.5 (excluding breaks). Start date – ASAP.

Eligibilit­y to participat­e in CE is generally linked to those who are 25 years or over and in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for one year or more. Garda vetting will apply. GOOD LUCK JULIE

Best wishes to Julie Sinnott, Coolree, Ballindagg­in who heads off to Tralee this week to represent Wexford at The Internatio­nal Rose of Tralee Festival.

Julie is a member of the teaching staff at Boolavogue N.S. and has many interests especially music and dancing.

Everyone in the parish and indeed the county will be tuning in to RTE early next week to see the Ballindagg­in girl on stage. Best of luck Julie.

HOSPICE 5K WALK/RUN

There will be a 5K walk/run in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare, Sunday, August 20, at 11.30 a.m. The route will start at John and Mary Foley’s house in Knockduff, Ballindagg­in and will continue to the Castledock­rell Windfarm before returning back to the house for refreshmen­ts.
