GAA CLUB NOTES
team of the week is easy this week. It goes to the ladies’ football team who hammered Shelmaliers 6-7 to 2-4 to win the shield. First club trophy this year. The Men’s footballers did pretty well too, with the second team qualifying for the quarter final despite going down to volunteers and the first team also qualifying after beating St Mary’s 0-15 to 1-9.
It is back to Adult Hurling championship this weekend with the second team playing Ferns in Bree on Friday, August 25, at 7 p.m. and the first team playing Geraldine O’Hanrahans in Patricks Park on Sunday at 1.30 p.m. Other fixtures include: Tuesday, August 22, under-18 boys football v Ballygarrett in Kilanerin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, under-12 camogie in Kilanerin at 7 p.m. also under-12 Hurling Red team in Rathnure at 6.45 p.m. Friday, August 25, under-12 Hurling Blue team in St Martin’s at 6.45 p.m. Please support all teams as the knockout games continue.
The club lotto was almost won with eight match-three winners but no jackpot winner. The numbers were 3, 5, 10 and 12. The next draw, for a jackpot of €2,700, is in Noels on the 28th.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Old Kilnenor Historical Society will take a tour of the Kynock in Arklow with local historian Michael Fitzgerald on Saturday, August 26, at 2 p.m. This year marks 100 years since the Kynock explosion.
