EVENT MARKS WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

-

A ‘Community in Unity’ event to mark World Suicide Prevention day is due to take place at the Talbot Hotel tomorrow ( Wednesday, September 13) at 7.45 p.m.

This is a free event and open to all and will provide a forum of hope and healing, with a particular emphasis on those among us who have been be- reaved by suicide.

It will be an evening of song and music, a sharing of personal stories and reflections of hope.

Organisers are hoping that many organisations and individuals from communities, education, mental health services, and other interested groups will attend to explore new ways to stem the tide of self-harm and suicide in County Wexford.

Singers and Musicians for the evening include: The SouthEast Wedding Singers, Rachel Grace, Eamonn Parker, Natalia Cullen and Shane Ryan.

Speakers include: Paddy Cummins, National Coordinator of Living Links – an outreach support organisation for families and friends bereaved by suicide, Davy Hynes - founding member of ‘It’s Good 2 Talk’ and Kay Quinn - ‘ Touched by Suicide’, Enniscorthy.

The presenter will be Tony Walsh, co-author of ‘Understanding Suicide’ (Currach Press, 2015)

Sponsors for the event are The Talbot Hotel and Irishimages.org
