VISIT OF RELICS

Relics of St Therese of Lisieux (The Little Flower) and her parents, Saints Louis and Zélie Martin will arrive in Oulart at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. Bishop Denis Brennan will celebrate Mass at 7.30 p.m. And will launch the Novena to St Therese. Veneration will take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and an All-night Vigil will take place in St Mochua’s Chapel, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On Sunday the 24th Mass in St Patrick’s Church will be at 10 a.m. as usual and Benedictio­n of the Blessed Sacrament at midday. This visit is a great honour and blessing for the parish of Oulart-The Ballagh and all are welcome and encouraged to attend for veneration of these great saints.

Important – The final meeting in preparatio­n for the Visit of the Relics will take place on Monday, September 18, in the Legion of Mary Hall at 7.30 p.m. It is essential that all who would like to help at the event would attend. Choir Practice the next choir practice will be held on Wednesday, September 13, at 8 p.m. in St Mochua’s Chapel. New members are always welcome.

CHURCH ‘CLEAN-UP’

A clean-up will take place in St Patrick’s Church on Friday, Sep- tember 15, at 7.30 p.m. all help would be greatly appreciate­d.

‘MISE ÉIRE’ MONUMENT

The ‘Mise Éire’ Monument in Oulart, erected to commemorat­e the Easter Rising 1916, The War of Independen­ce and the Oulart Company, Third Battalion, Irish Volunteers will be unveiled on Sunday, October 1. The ceremonies will commence at 2.30 p.m. Refreshmen­ts will be served in Oulart Community Centre following the formalitie­s.

The members of the organising committee are appealing for donations of home-baking etc in order to cater adequately for the large attendance that is expected. Please contact Eileen Dempsey (087 91166 or Mary Sutton (087 9901143) or Breda Jacob (086 1686978) with offers of help.

Volunteer stewards are also needed to ensure the comfort and safety of all present and any adults willing to lend a hand should contact Brian Cleary, John Dempsey, or Ger Furlong.

PIKE PEOPLE

An open invitation is extended to Pikemen and Pike Women, from any parish, as well as from Oulart and the Ballagh to attend the unveiling of the Mise Éire Monument on Sunday, October 1. Members of the local pike group and interested newcomers will be called together for a training session prior to the day.

CAMOGIE SEMI-FINAL

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club have been notified that they will play Rathnure in the county semi-final on Sunday, September 17, in St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorth­y. Please check the time of this fixture with club players or officials. The team and management would greatly appreciate as much support as possible.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The latest weekly winners of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot are Catherine O’Brien, who receives €104 and Grace Kehoe, who won €117. Please continue to support this fundraiser. Entry envelopes are available in local businesses and from the local primary school.

Since split-the-pot started in June 2016 more than €11,000 has been raised for the school and has been used to buy new reading materials and computers, picnic tables and benches as well as helping with the garden and roof repairs.

SCOIL MOCHUA NEWS

Photograph­s for the School Calendar will be taken on Friday, September 15. ‘The Beginning of Year’ School Mass will take place in St Patrick’s Church on Friday, September 22, at 10 a.m.

MUSIC CLASSES

Kilmuckrid­ge/Monamolin Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Branch will resume classes in Monamolin Community Centre on Monday, September 11, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuition will be given in a variety of instrument­s-tin whistle, flute, button and piano accordion, keyboard and fiddle.
