Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Intermedia­te team will play Eire Óg in Netwatch Cullen Park on Tuesday, September 19, at 8 p.m. in the quarter finals of the championsh­ip. The lads have been training hard under the watchful eye of Aidan Kelly and his backroom team of Donal Murphy, Tom Doyle and Christy O’Neill. Your Support would be appreciate­d.

HUNTINGTON CASTLE

Have you ever been to a real haunted castle? Following on from the fantastic success of last year’s ghost tours, Huntington Castle in Clonegal, County Carlow will again be opening its doors and are very excited about their new bigger and better Halloween Tour in one of Ireland’s most haunted castle.

This year’s event is suitable for younger children as well as the regular tour which is aimed for teenagers and adults. The candlelit tour will feature the famous castle dungeons and expect to see and hear lots of resident ghosts. Two separate tours; family tours from 4 p.m. And 6 p.m. which will suitable for families and under-12s, and then after from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. is suitable for teenagers and adults only. All tickets must be booked through Failte Ireland Tourist Informatio­n Offices, which means that visitors will have a confirmed tour time. Tours will leave on the hour and half hour exactly.

Please ensure you arrive with your tickets at the Castle Courtyard at least 20 minutes prior to the time of your tour. The candlelit tour will last approximat­ely 35 minutes and will run daily from 27th – October 31. Tickets cost €8.95 for under-12s and €11.95 for adults and teenagers. Important Note: You need seven days’ notice to cancel a booking and 48 hours before event time to make any alteration­s.

COFFEE MORNING

Kildavin National School are holding a coffee morning in aid of the Carlow Hospice on Friday, September 22, in Spellman Hall at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you then.

VETERAN PLAYERS

The November 4, will see the launch of the Clonegal Kildavin Veteran Players fourth publicatio­n. Its title is ‘For the honour of the Little Village’ and features the recollecti­ons and opinions of retired Gaelic Footballer­s and hurlers from Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.

The book will be launched by Jim Bolger chairman of the Leinster Council in Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, on Saturday, November 4, at 8 p.m. All are welcome, light refreshmen­ts will be served. The book will be on sale for €10 and all are welcome. Keep the date in your diary.

FIRST RESPONDERS

A public meeting will be held on tonight, September 19 at 7.30 p.m. in associatio­n with the National Ambulance Service, of setting up a ‘Community First Responders Group’ in the area. The minimum time for an ambulance to attend within 10 kilometres of Kildavin is 40 minutes for cardiac issues. It is important to have a Community First Responders Group, to attend the patient till an ambulance arrives. It is hoped to have representa­tives from all areas within the 10 kilometre radius. JUNIOR CERT RESULTS

There were many nervous teenagers around the parish of Clonegal and Kildavin last Wednesday, as they headed to their schools to get an envelope containing their result. The parish would like to congratula­te the students, teachers and parents for their hard work into preparing for these exams. We wish them all the very best for their future.
