Celebration time for Edermine Rowing
IT WAS an evening of celebration and congratulation last Saturday as Edermine Rowing Club came together to celebrate a wonderful year on the river and to honour and acknowledge the marvellous achievements of the club in this year’s All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships held last month at Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal.
Assistant Chairman Wally McKenna applauded all who took part in the All Ireland Championships and was lavish in his praise of those who came away with All Ireland glory. ‘A gold medal in the U/18 Girls Heritage Race is a first for the Club and indeed a first for Enniscorthy and the County along with Bronze in the U/18 Boys Heritage and Open Men’s Heritage races, giving us much to be proud of and a bright future to look forward to.’
Wally went on to thank everyone involved for all the hard work done throughout the year before the presentations to the winning teams:
U/18 Girls Heritage - Cody Byrne, Aoife Codd, Sinead Kinsella and Katie Hempenstall with Ruairi Murphy as Cox.
U/18 Boys Heritage - Richard O’Neill, Josh Martin, Shane Broaders, Cathal O’Rourke with Maria Moulds as Cox.
Open Men’s Heritage - Paddy Carvey, Donal Harrington, Lee Martin and Ruairi Murphy with Maria Moulds as Cox.
Edermine Rowing Club also took part in this year’s Great Thames Race, which includes over 300 clubs from all over the world, each using their own specific type of boat. The Edermine team participated in a Slaney Cot, and well done to them nice to see a Slaney Cot competing on the Thames.
