A toast to a great night!

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

THOSE interested in improving their public speaking capabilities and making some great friends in the process flocked to The Riverside Park Hotel last week as Enniscorthy Toastmasters hosted its open evening.

The event proved a wonderful evening of entertainment for both present and potential club members with a range of speakers from diverse backgrounds. Among them was James Kehoe, Managing Director of Rathwood Home & Garden Centre who provided some inspiration for the gathered audience, speaking of how he found his place in the expanding family business. Former editor of The Echo Newspapers, poet and writer Tom Mooney was next to speak, providing an insightful speech regarding social media. Then it was over to some club members themselves. Caroline Stafford offered an enthralling account of her travelling adventures and even brought samples of handmade Colombian chocolate for all to taste, while Winner of the 2017 Tall Tales competition Jim Ryan kept the audience well entertained with his antics on the ski slopes of Austria.

Organisers were delighted with the turnout and enthusiasm at the meeting and it provided an entertaining night for everyone involved. If you happened to miss the meeting, but wish to join up with a view to improving your skills as a public speaker, you can either come along to the club’s next meeting on Monday, October 2, or call Patricia on 087 4134950 for more information.
