Walking Trail launch

-

THE fourth annual Wexford Walking Trail Festival takes place from Friday, September 29, to Sunday, October 2, aimed at revealing the richness and diversity of south Wexford’s heritage through a series of guided walks.

To coincide with the walking festival, Trek Ireland, a Dublin-based enterprise that films and publishes interactive guided waking videos around Ireland has launched a video on DVD focusing on the South Wexford Coast and featuring local naturalist Jim Hurley.

Filmed by videographer Jake McManus, Director of Trek Ireland, the full colour, widescreen DVD is of three-hour duration and focuses on Hook Head, Tintern Abbey, Ballyteige Burrow, Saltee Island Great and Lady’s Island.

Jake McManus, a hill-walker and owner of Trek Ireland said, the DVD produces a realistic walking experience for anyone watching at home or abroad.

Jim Hurley introduces each site and outlines its importance for natural heritage. The video then explores the sights to be enjoyed at each location with natural sounds such as bird song and the sound of the sea recorded on site.

The DVD retails for €15 and is available online at www.trekireland. com. It will also be on sale shortly at selected outlets.

Trek Ireland is offering a giveaway of five free DVDs. E-mail Jake McManus at jake@trekireland.com saying why you want a South Wexford DVD. Names will be drawn from a hat in mid- October and the winners notified.
