CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Duffry Rovers camogie club will have a 5k walking track challenge in Coolree on Sunday next, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for all the family. We want to create a new record for how many laps of track can be done over a three-hour period. So come along and join us in our challenge and raise some much needed funds to keep the club going. Sponsorshi­p cards are available from club secretary Melissa at 085 2872428 or €5 per person on the day.

There will be a presentati­on night in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday, October 6, at 7.30 p.m. for the underage teams. All are invited to come along and celebrate with them. Refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards.

HOSPITALIT­Y AWARD

Congratula­tions to Liz Fagan, Ballycryst­al, Kiltealy, who was named Wedding Co-ordinator of the year in South East Radio Hospitalit­y Awards held in the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey recently. Liz is conferenci­ng and banqueting manager at the Riverside Park Hotel which was also awarded Wedding Venue of the Year on the night. Liz was presented with both awards at the black tie event. A great achievemen­t, well done Liz.

WEDDING

Congratula­tions to Annette Byrne, Cloroguemo­re, Kiltealy and Anthony Barnes, Hillbrook, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, who were married in Kiltealy Church on Friday, September 15, and celebrated afterwards in Hotel Curracloe. We wish Annette and Anthony every happiness for the future.

The September Social will be held in Kiltealy Community Hall on Friday, September 29, tea and refreshmen­ts served. Music by Checkers. Admission €8. A great night out.

The winner of Kiltealy NS split-the-pot last week was Molly Bates, Boolamore, who won €193. The winners the previous week were Conor and Ian Blake €181. Congratula­tions to all. Play split-the-pot every week, envelopes available locally. Draw takes place every Monday in Kiltealy school.

FUNDRAISIN­G NIGHT

Blackstair­s Rebel will play in Bowe’s Lounge, Kiltealy on Saturday October 14th in a fundraiser for Christine Weaver’s ‘fight for her sight’, with head shaving, waxing, hair dying, prizes etc. It’s sure to be a great night of music and fun, all for a very worthy cause.

Rathnure Killanne Blackstair­s CE have a vacancie in the following area: Groundsper­son – Kiltealy Parish, start date – ASAP. This is a developmen­tal opportunit­y, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Duties will include; environmen­tal work, grass cutting, litter control, spraying, weeding, strimming and general maintance work. Days per week – 2.5 days per week – 19.5 hours. Start date – ASAP. Eligibilit­y to participat­e in CE is generally linked to those who are 25 years or over and in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for one year or more. Garda vetting will apply. HORSE CANTER

A great day out on horseback was enjoyed at the Duffry Rovers Horse Canter on Sunday, September 17, The annual event is a dream for horse riders children and adults alike to canter through the countrysid­e with the added potential of the great natural beauty of the area which is on our doorstep. All had a most enjoyable day and enjoyed refreshmen­ts afterwards at the club grounds in Coolree. The club would like to thank everyone who helped in organising and running the event and all who supported the canter.

MUD RUN

‘Mud Run’ in Kilkenny on October 21, The Thatch V Bowe’s, Kiltealy to raise funds for Christine Weafer’s ‘fight for her sight’. Bus to the event costing €10.

THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club St Mary’s Day Centre, Bunclody is open to all over-60s. Drop in from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for entertainm­ent, arts, crafts, guest speakers, technology etc. Admission €4 which includes tea or coffee and light lunch. Also Bunclody Parent and toddler group meet every Wednesday in St Aidan’s Hall from 10 – midday. Admission €3, all welcome.
