HURLING

There were mixed fortunes for our adult hurlers last week. Our Intermedia­tes lost to Fethard in the ‘A’ Co. semi-final on Saturday the 23rd (1goal 14 points to 13 points).

Our scorer-in-chief was free-taker Pad Mythen with nine points from placed balls while our seniors overcame Shelmalier­s on Sunday in the quarter-final of the championsh­ip, on a scoreline of three goals 11 points to 15 points. Garrett Sinnott with two great goals and Nicky Kirwan with one goal six points were on fire for the seniors. Oulart-The Ballagh will meet Rapparees in the co. semi-final at a date to be fixed.

TEA OR COFFEE AFTERNOON

Joan is organising a tea or coffee Afternoon in the Ballagh Community Centre on Saturday, October 14, at 2 p.m. There will be bric-a-brac, face painting, door prizes and raffle prizes. Admission only five euro and children go free. Later that night there will be music from Mary Farrell in Bob’s Bar at 9 p.m. Proceeds to ‘Touched by Suicide’. UNDERAGE HURLING

On Tuesday night, September 26, the under-eight boys had a session under lights and were presented with certificat­es by senior team captain, Nicky Kirwan along with Shaun Murphy and Kevin Sheridan.

GAA LOTTO

On Monday, September 25, the Prize Fund stood at €15,000. The five lucky-dip winners who each get €30 are Hannah O’Dowd, Ethan Freeman, Ken Murphy, Una Leacy and Hubert McLoughlin. The winning numbers were 20, 29, 30 and 31 and the Bonus number was 17.There was no jackpot winner. Thanks to all who promote and enter the club lotto.

The next draw will be held on Monday, October 9.

ADVANCE NOTICE

Teams from the Enniscorth­y and Gorey districts will compete in the semi-final of Scór na nÓg (the GAA talent competitio­n) for boys and girls under 17 years, in Inch Hall on Saturday, November 18. The competitio­ns will begin at 7.30 p.m., following registrati­on at 7 p.m. There are eight events in Scór, namely Figure Dancing, set dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Instrument­al Music, Stage Presentati­on and, on a separate night, the table quiz in St Martin’s GAA on Thursday, November 9. CLOTHES COLLECTION

The PA of Ballaghkee­ne NS are organising a clothes collection on October 9 to raise funds for the school. Bags of unwanted clothes, towels, bed linen, curtains, soft toys, shoes, handbags and belts can be handed into the school on Friday, October 6, from 2.40 p.m. to 3 p.m. or on Monday, October 9, from 8.40 a.m. to 9 a.m. Bags can also be handed in after Mass on Sunday, October 8, from 11.30 a.m. to midday.

The clothes collection has been an excellent fundraiser for the school in recent years and your support is greatly appreciate­d.
