STELLAR LINE-UP AT COSMIC REBELS CON

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

THE dastardly imperial forces arrived in Enniscorthy recently to wreak havoc and spread the word about the Cosmic Rebels Con which will storm The Riverside Park Hotel on November 4 and 5.

Members of the Star Wars 501st Legion Ireland were delighted to invade the hotel recently and alert staff to their impending takeover for a celebration of all things geeky from comic books and collectibles to retro gaming and of course Star Wars.

This will be the first convention of its kind ever to take place in Enniscorthy and organisers Ed Doyle and Brian Thomas are hoping it will be a huge success. On the Saturday, Paddy Lennon will speak on 30 years of Transformers and Michael Carroll will pass on some hints and tips about writing comics.

There will also be a discussion hosted by Ben Hennessy on creating a comic strip from start to finish and a horror documentary from Aran Doyle.

In addition there will be an auction and raffle in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation and some crazy characters are expected for the Cosplay Competition which encourages people to dress as their favourite superheroes and characters.

The 501st Legion will also be on patrol throughout the day and there will be retro gaming competitions to take part in too.

On Sunday, Rob O’Dwyer will discuss voice acting while Michael Benson discusses all things paranormal.

There will be a Q&A with an artist panel as well as a Gray School of Arms Swordplay demo, a Super Smash Bros Tournament, a display from Ghostbusters Ireland and a screening of the Predator Celtic Days short movie.

There will also be vendors selling all kinds of collectibles and geeky merchandise and admission is free.
