CANCER RESEARCH CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The annual church gate collection in aid of Cancer Research will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and five. Your support for this very worthy cause would be greatly appreciate­d.

BINGO

River’s Edge, Bunclody hosts bingo every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. Each month a €200 donation from the proceeds is made to a local charity. So if you enjoy a good night out, make your way to River’s Edge on any or every Wednesday evening.

BUNCLODY LIBRARY

An art exhibition of paintings by Eliza Foley, her daughters and her late husband, John Edwin Foley continues at Bunclody Library till October 31.

‘Small Creatures’ exhibition – a selection of sculptures created by the local community of Bunclody through a collaborat­ion between the Arts Department of Wexford County Council and ArtBank, Bunclody, continues till October 31.

Thursday, October 26, at 7 p.m. Prehistori­c Rock Art in Ireland with Claire Busher O’Sullivan. The talk will focus primarily on issues which negatively affect rock art in Ireland and methods which could be introduced to combat this threat. The talk will feature a discussion on panels from Cork, Kerry, Wicklow, Carlow and include a missing piece of rock art from Co Wexford.

Thursday, November 2, at 7 p.m. – ‘A History of Clobemon Hall’ with Barry Lacey. Anyone passing along the main road between Ballycarne­y and Enniscorth­y can’t help but notice the large imposing structure across the River Slaney that is Clobemon Hall. It was originally the home to the De Rinzy family and formed part of a vast estate which they acquired after Cromwell’s campaign in Ireland. This talk will discuss its history which includes landlords, tenants, rebels and heros. Booking essential.

Saturday, November 4, at 11 a.m. – Story Massage with Mary Fitzpatric­k ITEC CIMI Join Mary for this unique event for an interactiv­e story massage session suitable for children aged five to eight years and their parents.

Thursday, November 9, at 7 p.m. – ‘Ireland in the early Anglo-Norman period’ with Emmet Stafford. The 1169 arrival of the Anglo-Normans to southeaste­rn Ireland is seen as a moment which changed Irish culture completely and forever. In reality, however, the 12th century was already a period of economic and social change before the arrival of fitzStephe­n, Strongbow and Henry II. By examining historical and archaeolog­ical sources for trade, settlement and social structures this presentati­on will focus on the continuity and change experience­d by the Irish population in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Thursday, November 16, at 7 p.m. – CSI Forensic Science Workshop for adults – ‘Crime Scene’. As part of Science Week, join us for this exciting and practical workshop to see how forensic science works to solve crimes at a crime scene.

Bunclody Market is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St Aidan’s Hall and has stalls of different produce all produced in and around Bunclody. Stalls can be found in St Aidan’s Hall, Irish Street and Market Square, Bunclody on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please call in have a look. Tea and coffee served only €3

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

A pilgrimage to Knock will take place on the weekend of Friday, October 27, to Sunday, October 29. This is a Medjugorje Retreat weekend.

The bus leaves Wexford at 10 a.m. Friday the 27th and travels via Enniscorth­y, Bunclody and Carlow.

The cost of the weekend per person sharing B&B and partial board is €155 approx.

THE MONDAY CLUB

The Monday Club meets at St Mary’s Centre, Ryland Road, on Mondays. Come and join us and brighten up your Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the year there will be informatio­n sharing, entertainm­ent, arts and crafts, guest speakers and many more topics.

Entrance Fee: €4 which includes tea or coffee and Light Lunch. This Club will suit the 60+ age group. Transport not provided.

BUNCLODY VOCATIONAL COLLEGE

Bunclody Vocational College’s next split-the-pot draw is Friday, November 3. Envelopes available in O’Reillys SuperValu, Eurospar, Ken Rothwell, Bunclody Credit Union and Bunclody Vocational College.

Reminder – a used clothes collection will take place at the school on Monday morning, November 13.

Bunclody Vocational College will hold a fashion show in the Millrace Hotel on Friday, November 24, Tickets at €10 each available through the school. A great night out is promised.

PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

Bunclody Parent and Toddler Group meets on Wednesdays From 10 a.m. to midday in St Aidan’s Hall, Irish Street. Admission €3. This is a great place to meet other parents in a nice relaxed atmosphere.
