Major investment at Ballymurn mill
DAVY FITZGERALD ADDS A TOUCH OF EXCITEMENT TO LAUNCH OF NEW JOHN CULLEN GRAIN FACILITY
WEXFORD hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald was among the large crowd in attendance at the official launch of Cullen Mills, a new state of the art milling facility which is part of John Cullen Grain Ltd in Ballymurn, Enniscorthy.
The charismatic Mr Fitz was joined by farmers and grain growers from right across the local area, who were just as excited to check out the new facilities as they were to bend the hurling manager’s ear about his plans for the coming season!
Trading since 2005, John Cullen Grain is a family owned company and John and Karen Cullen were delighted to show of their new facilities following a major capital investment. Garnering particular interest among the crowd were the new highly efficient grain dryer and treatment and storage complex. Once at full capacity, Cullen Mills will be producing in excess of 20,000 tonnes of feed per year from Ballymurn, where the principal ingredients used are native barley, beans, wheat and oats.
They also purchase approximately 25,000 tonnes of native grain annually. Cullen Mills market their animal feeds throughout the south east supported by an agronomy service to grain and grassland farmers, coupled with a full range of agrochemical products and fertilizers.
‘ The majority of our feed ingredients are grown within the south east,’ said Managing Director John Cullen, whose father started out as a tillage farmer.
‘ They are grown by farmers we have been in business with for many years. Our new purpose built Mill, along with advanced technology, and qual- ity ingredients, ensure that our commitment is to provide our customers with Beef, Dairy, Sheep and Horse feed that is of the highest standard’.
