DANCING LESSONS
Children’s Irish Dancing lessons have resumed in Castledockrell Hall on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
PIONEERS
Diocesan Pioneer Meeting will be held in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday, October 24, at 8 p.m. The Pioneer Social dinner is on November 24. For more information contact local Pioneer Centres.
LOCAL LINK
The new Local Link Bus ser- vice runs from Bunclody through Kilmyshall, Castledockrell, Marshalstown to Enniscorthy stopping at Templeshannon, Market Square and Bellefield. IRISH DANCING
Irish Dancing classes in Marshalstown Community Centre on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Come along for some exercise and confidence building through fun and dance. All ages from four years upwards welcome both beginners and advanced. Two fully qualified teachers. Contact 087 6231175.
DRESSER PROJECT
One of the dressers featured in Michael Fortune’s Wexford Dresser Project in Wexford Library from October 20 to the end of December belongs to local woman Stella Byrne. Large images of the dressers will be on display and is well worth seeing.
STORYTELLING
Next session of storytelling is in Castledockrell Hall on Thursday, November 16, at 8 p.m. There will be a raffle held and refreshments served.
GET WELL
Get well wishes to all from the parish who are ill in hospitals, nursing homes, or at home at present.
CEMETERY GUIDELINES
Following new regulations by Wexford County Council these are the guidelines for burials in Castledockrell Cemetery (and all other cemeteries owned by Wexford County Council).
No burials can take place on a Sunday. Burials on the other days – Funerals must arrive at cemetery gate by 2 p.m. which means the latest time a Funeral Mass May be celebrated is midday. For further information or any queries please contact Wexford County Council. Please note these rules do not apply to Marshalstown Cemetery.
FCJ 1977 REUNION
FCJ Secondary School, Bunclody class of ‘77 is holding a reunion in the Riverside Park, Hotel, Enniscorthy on Saturday, November 18. It would be appreciated if family members and friends would pass on this information. Group co-ordinator is Clare Byrne Doyle (087 4151350).
SCHOOL PROJECT
Folklore and local history material from Counties Wexford, Wicklow and Carlow have been uploaded to the National Folklore Collections free website duchas. ie the material is from schools collections which contains folklore material recorded by pupils between 1937 and 1939. It consists of more than half a million pages of handwritten stories and reports noted by some 50,000 primary school children across the 26 counties.
Included in this material are many gems of local interest written by pupils from 11 to 14 years from Castledockrell NS, Marshalstown NS and Monart NS. It gives an interesting insight of the parish in times past and has the names of the children who wrote the stories and their teachers. The website is duchas.ie.
