Celebrations continue at Bellefield GAA

-

FOLLOWING a week of fabulous celebration in the wake of the Starlights capturing the Senior Football title, Bellefield continued to party this weekend with the annual end of season underage nursery party and the Michael Foley annual bursary table quiz, along with hosting the Leinster Junior Football clash between Crossabeg/Ballymurn and Multyfarnan of Westmeath.

Unfortunately, Crossabeg/Ballymurn were beaten by the visitors by the narrowest of margins, but that was the only glitch on an otherwise fun weekend with U6s, U8s and U10s enjoying a most successful afternoon organised by Adrian Fenlon and his wonderful crew of Pepi Coady, Paul O’Reilly, Stephen Murphy, Sarah and Ken Larkin and many others who provided not just an excellent end-of-season bash but have given the children a tremendous year of fun and participation, instilling in them a sense of club and a love for our games of hurling and football.

The annual Michael Foley bursary table quiz provided the fun and games for the adult members on Friday night with the winning team of Cathal Kearney and Paul and Ava Cullen dropping a single point, scoring a total of 89 out of a possible 90. A fantastic result and most deserving winners.

Now in its 10th year the Michael Foley Bursary Fund goes to assist students from Enniscorthy CBS third level education expenses and is a marvellous tribute to Michael and to his family, friends and teammates that it continues to grow and flourish.

The table quiz, one of several events organised each year by the dynamic duo Jim and Phil Kearney raised €1,169 on Friday night for the Bursary Fund and provided a most enjoyable evening of camaraderie and catch up for Michael’s many friends and teammates.

The next event on the bursary calendar is the annual Pudding Run on Stephen’s Day, leaving Bellefield GAA Complex at 11am. A great way to shake off the Christmas cobwebs so put it in the diary now.
