Checking out Coláiste Bríde!

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

POTENTIAL first year students got the chance to take a look beyond the doors of Coláiste Bríde recently as the school hosted an open information evening for prospective students and their parents.

The student body and staff gave a warm welcome to a big crowd of pupils from primary schools right across the district with the hope that they could possibly be joining them next year attending secondary school in the Shannon.

Staff and students joined forces to show off all that the school has to offer and the visitors got the chance to take a full tour of the state of the art facilities they enjoy with the likes of the art and science rooms typically garnering great interest. However, the visitors and their parents also learned of the full range of subject choices on offer, with Coláiste Bríde faring extremely well in areas such as languages as a result of the hard work of teachers such as 2017 European Language Teacher of the year Maria Whitty.

Students also showed off some eye-catching fashions with their creations for the Junk Kouture competition, a competition which has brought national attention to the school on several occasions.

Principal Kiera O’Sullivan was delighted to welcome the prospective students to the school and hoped that she would see quite a few of them once again as they undertook the next chapter of their young lives next September. She thanked her staff and students for all their hard work on the open evening and for showing a wonderful school spirit that is sure to catch on among the next group of first years to arrive through the school’s halls.
