Power washers and trailer worth €15,000 stolen from businessman
A LOCAL businessman was left reeling last week after thieves made off with machinery carrying a value of nearly €15,000. Ray Mernagh of Ray Mernagh and Son Power Washing and Spray Painting in Ballycarney was horrified to find that thieves had made off with two state of the art power washers, along with the trailer that they were being kept in.
Gardaí said that the incident happened somewhere between November 3 and 6 at Ballinakill, Ballycarney, and saw the raiders make off with two Yanmar Power washers and an Ifor Williams trailer. Well-known for his work locally, Ray has urged anyone who may have any information to contact the gardaí and has offered a reward for the return of the equipment.
‘ They must have been watching the place,’ he said. ‘ There’s electric gates on the yard there and usually they’re closed, but they were left open for a couple of days while horses were being brought in and out. Someone must have been watching this or passed on the information. I’d ask anyone who knows anything to get in touch with the gardaí and we’re offering a reward.’
Gardaí re-iterated Mr Mernagh’s appeal for information and asked that anyone who may have seen somebody driving along with two power washers in a trailer around this time to get in touch with them at the station on 053 9242580.
Meanwhile, gardaí are also investigating the theft of machinery with a value of around €2,000 from a van at St Aidan’s Villas on Wednesday of last week. The incident is believed to have taken place in evening time and saw three chainsaws stolen from a van which was parked up there.
‘We would ask that anyone who may have seen anyone loading the chainsaws into a vehicle or heading off down the road with them, to please get in touch with us at Enniscorthy Garda Station,’ a spokesman said.
