Kiltrea Brian looking sharp

THE FOUR first round heats of the Grand Prize featured at Enniscorthy Dog Track on Thursday night, and there was little to separate Kiltrea Brian and Airdown Rena on the clock as they scored in heats one and two.

The John Doyle-owned Kiltrea Brian is more noted for his staying power, but he proved the shorter trip was well within his compass as he came home strongly to get the better of Southest Bound who made a bold bid himself for victory, with a short head separating them on the line in a time of 28.76.

Heat two followed and Airdown Rena was another to show her strength as she came with a storming run to take up the running and go away to score an easy and impressive win in the end for Steve and Karen Parker in a best of the round 28.72.

The trend continued in heat three as the sponsor’s dog, Strictly Sand, owned by George Roche, also came from off the pace to get up in the shadows of the post to beat Kereight Dodger by a short head in 29.15.

Heat four also went to a racer coming from behind as Tagalong Highlander put in his challenge down the back to race home a snug winner from Swan Diver in 29.19.

This week’s semis will be very tough to sort out for punters.

The Kilmore father and son team, Ian and Philip Tierney, had a good week when winning the fifth race on Monday night and the last race on Thursday night.

Bugatti Petite gets a special word as this cracking little 54 lb. pocket rocket was recording her ninth career win and her fifth from her last ten races.
