Quality racing on show in Enniscorthy

THANKFULLY RACING was able to go ahead at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Friday night, although it was bitterly cold.

Some good runs were witnessed on track with race four, the final of the Kereight King A5/6 Stake, the feature with a nice €1,400 first prize.

Favourite backers were happy all the way here as Faypoint Lisa led from trap to line and was always in command to score by two and a half lengths to maintain her unbeaten run through the stake. The time was 29.23.

The semi-finals of the Speedrite unraced stake were also run and there was something of an upset in the first as Chanceme Jay came up the outside from trap six and went round the first bend nicely, leaving trouble behind and going on to score from favourite Gemsons Coco in 29.39.

In the second semi, Battstreet Eva had a good battle with leader Ballinabola Theo before having to hold a renewed effort from the latter in a good time of 29.06.

This week’s final looks a cracking race and any of the six finalists can win as the trap draw has thrown it wide open.

The Speedrite Open Unraced 525 Stake final: trap one, Uncle Wexford; trap two, Chanceme Jay; trap three, Ballinabola Theo; trap four, Gemsons Coco; trap five, Black Jet Hawk; trap six, Battstreet Eva.

The last two races were open events and featured two very good runs.

The ninth race saw hot favourite Kiltrea Brien go into a good lead down the back and he looked all over the winner at that stage of proceedings.

However, Karlow Joe was in hot pursuit and put in a powerful finaish to grab the money right on the line in a good time of 31.63 (575 yards).

Race ten saw another power-packed run from Airdown Rena who was scoring her 13th career win when impressively beating her litter sister Piercestown Leaf by four lengths in a best of the night 29.03.
